if you mean u.s. isolationism, we didnt interfere until we were bombed by japan, even though before that we were clearly taking sides(lend and lease policy)

if you mean europe in general, the other countries not caring about the affairs of the world allowed Hitler to take most of europe, because when europe got involved, hitler already was prepared for a war, unlike them.
