32 teams get in because they win their conference. they other 32 are decided upon by a selection committee. the committee usually looks at rpi, rank, strength of schedule, and notable wins into account win they pick the other 32 teams.

Automatic bids goto the winners of the conference tournaments= 31
Ivy League Conference Champ (They dont have tourney= 1)
The rest are at large (32)...chosen from their RPi which is a mix of strength of schedule, conference and number of wins.

32 are from Confrence winners. 31 from tourneys. Ivy don't got 1. 32 are selected by the Comitee .RPI, Strength if Schedule, and key Wins and losses are what the comitte look for
