It seems that the cost of the Olympics in London has risen to £9,000,000, almost FOUR times the figure we were given when the government decided to waste our money bidding for them.
To pay for this, money will have to be withdrawn from other, more legitimate and more vital services such as the NHS.
Make no mistake these games will cost hundreds of lives and this is the true cost of the games.
The government should resign over this and people like Lord Coe should hang their heads in shame. What do you think?

It reminds me of everyday politics. Nothing the Olympics does makes sense! Their costs exceed revenue every year and these countries justify spending this money to get the Olympics to get votes! If the Olympics are going to benefit the whole country why are only Londoners having to pay a supplement on their council taxes?. If you stop and think almost no big project the government has taken up has been delivered on time and on budget. The NHS computerisation is over budget by millions but the government do their best to keep this situation quiet. Lord Coe is not to blame for this runaway expense but people like Red Ken and Tony Bliar are.

Presumably, the government took advice from others?

Surely, it is the civil servants and goverment audit people who should be clearing their desks and catching the bus home?

If people made these sort of mistakes in private enterprise, they wouldn't last ten minutes, yet with impunity, these people are permitted to oversee the finances of things like the Health Service and the Olympics.

After all, a 2% error is bad, a 5% error is the stuff of resignation, but a 400% error should ensure that people go to the Tower and stay there for some considerable time.

The fact that politicians decided to act on the ridiculous figures first quoted, tends to suggest that they are not fit to govern a child's piggy-bank.

The Olympics Madness...will cost a lot more than 9 Million...more like 9 Bi££ion... And the thieving Bandits plan on robbing the Charities by stealing the Lotto money...This has the potential to Bankrupt Britain as so many greedy hob knobs will have their sticky hands in the pot..& Glasgow wants the 2014 Commonwealth Games...England wants the 2018 World Cup...Joe Mug will end up paying for these sporting events too... they will probably even have to ban the smoking ban so people will start smoking again..
Labour cant count - you just have to look at Jimmy Hood 's expenses claim form , £57K Car Mileage claim ! ...you would have to be a Smuck Accountant to work that out... and the ex - Scottish First Minister's - Donald Dewar - he said the Scottish Parliament would cost £40 Million - Turned into half a Bi££ion..!!! & Henry McLeish he got caught "Muddling" his Expenses... The Game is over for Labour - they are on their way out....lets start by Voting them out in May..

It's just another New Labour Fu?k up and guess who will pay. But there is another way out ''The MP's can pay the deficit out of their daily expenses'' perhaps that's the answer, after all they get enough don't they. I'm sorry you are wrong about resigning over this, this is just one of their expensive Fu?k up's they should have resigned over Iraq, but this shambles of a government is a Communist government and knows that they are useless but will hang on till the end whatever. They are a disgrace.

Sadly those in power making these decisions will be long retired on their fat Tax payer guaranteed pensions to worry about the final cost. It is very sad to see that the Lottery Fund is being constantly raided to pay for this ever expanding grandstanding by our politicians. To the detrement of millions of small charities who will see there funding come to an end ...

We should never have been given the right to host these games
whoever thought it was going to be a good idea was a complete idiot. We could never afford them and they will probably turn out to be a complete mistake just like the Millennium Dome.

They've already started collecting by extending the congestion charge zone in London, and extending it to other boroughs, by the time the games come round it'll be costing £20 a day to enter London. they'll get it by hook or by crook.

Boy, you're in a bit of a rut. The Olympics are insanely expensive to put on but this amount is even more inexcusable.
