Dogs Skinned Alive For Fur On Coats?
In my local newspaper today it states that the humane society of the U.S. said it purchased coats from Nordstrom, Andrew Marc, Tommy H and more and found that they were trimmed with fur from domestic dogs. Even though the fur was avertized as fake. Most comes from China although the racoon dog fur comes from Finland. The raccoon dogs (These look like oversized, fluffy raccoons) are killed routinely by stomping them, beating them, or skinning them alive. Video posted on the internet from Swiss Animal Protection shows dogs clubbed or slammed on the ground some writhing, gasping and blinking as they are skinned alive. Besides buying NOTHING with anything that even closely resembles fur what else can we do? There must be something that we can do. Any ideas?

I guess I should've also told you that Tommy h. Stopped selling the fur trimmed garment. Nordstroms called the 62 consumers that pruchased vests with dog fur trim to give them an oppourtunity to return the vest and said they will no long buy fur trimmed products from that vendor who had marketed the vests as vaux fur. Andrew Marc disputed the Humane Society and insisted in a statement that all fur on his coats labeled as raccoon are "only farm bred raccoon fur from Finland"
I also want to add that I misquoted the paper regarding the location of the raccoon dog. I stated they were from Finland when in fact the paper does not state their origin. To the poster that said raccoon dogs are not canines, I did a search and found this "Raccoon Dogs are secretive and not very aggressive; they prefer to hide or scream rather than fight, and play dead to avoid predators. They are monogamous.." Youre right, it doesnt really matter if they are an actual dog or not. They are alive.
