That is something that society has put upon us; there is no need whatsoever to burn out working in an office environment or many other types of jobs these days. True work, to me, is the kind that is more physical. If we are not those who work farms or are in the military, etc., we should not be working to a breaking point. Yes, we need money to pay bills and feed our families, but if we cannot be there for our families emotionally and mentally, what good are we to the world around us and the next generation? Family and friends always come first to me, before my job, because good relationships are, in my opinion, what truly makes the world a better place.

I think its because there are two kinds of people.....
One person works to live
The other lives to work
'We' kill ourselves working because the people that live to work are in charge of and determine whether the people that work to live work at all. Regardless if you are a live to work or work to live person, you are pushed to live to work.... at least in today's modern society.
Ironic that we call this an improvement.

Good question!! Guess we work to keep out children living so that can have children to work to keep them alive. I guess you could consider that working for a living, but today society. All you have to do is file for welfare and take money from the man who is trying to work to keep his children alive.

It does'nt have to be that way. I've found that if you go with the flow and work, but if possible don't rush. Just work at the same pace with a good attitude. Also If you like what you do, do it well and try to enjoy it.

American society is based on capitalism and we're taught to work instead of leading balanced lives.
