All the major players and studios connected with cinema and movies are in California/ Los Angeles. Any specific reason such as geographical financial, claimatic reasons?

Actually there are major movie studios in many other cities - it's just that the "Hollywood" industry is centralized in Los Angeles... and certainly spend a lot of energy promoting the idea that that's where all the action is - even if they shoot the movies all over the world...
A short list of places that have thriving movie studios would include New York, Orlando, Toronto, London, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, India...

Hundreds of films each year is filmed in NYC. The Silvercup Studio is in Astoria, Queens, NYC, and there is also another one in Astoria. Those studio sets are busy with work. And the Manhattan Streets and parks are used everyday for filming TV, commercials or movies. Then you have the big stars in Hollywood who are bi-coastal. They live in LA and NYC. Last star I saw was Leonardo DiCapri in Central Park.

But lot of movies are made elsewhere..
