In almost every form I fill in, online or on paper, is there not an option to say ''I'm English''?

From the UK, or
Congonese, Austrilian, white other, asian other.....etc

Why can I not say I am English?

Will it oneday be segregated into continents, or hemisphires?

I'm English.

And I want the powers that be to know that.

techniqucally you are not a United States Citizen (I am assuming), but if you are, then this is where the world of difference is found. As a US citizen you have guarenteed rights,(Bill of Rights) freedom of speech. Anyway, whoever (whatever gov) disallowed you or prevented you ftrom making your statement (whatever it may be) just violated your civil rights and you can take it all the way to the top (Supream Court). if you want to go through the trouble and become a headache to some.

I don't think the powers that be actually care one way or the other, hon. They just want to know if you're a minority or not, most likely because there are laws against discrimination. It's not a jab to your heritage. There's just not enough room to put every single country on those forms so that you can check the appropriate box. I am proud to be American just as you are proud to be British but I'm sure if I went to England, there wouldn't be any boxes for me to check that say "American" either. Just not enough room. Don't feel bad about it.

Because you're not REALLY English. In AMERICA that's taken to be that you are the language English. If you are from England (or the brittish isle in whole) you should say you're Brittish. When you say "Hi I'm Brittish" most people will automatically think you're from England therefore knowing that you are "English" as you want to be thought of as.

Depending on what country from, and I am assuming England. It is something that is done to confirm the majorities and minorities only. don't take offense to that - the governments around the world are all screwy.
