YES! im sorry but all these people that are all like "no, no, no, u have to wait" are all wrong.. 3 months is a typical age to start ur baby on plain rice cereal.. it just depends on ur baby and how ur baby handles it.. i started off just feeding my daughter rice cereal 2 times a week then just gradually increased it.. good luck, its exciting starting ur baby on cereal!!

I started my daughter on rice cereal and baby foods when she was three and a half months old. Her doctor said that was okay because she showed a genuine interest in foods and because she was able to sit in a highchair very well with out falling over or slumping forward. So the real question is Is your baby ready for it? Try feeding him some. If he uses his toungue to push the food out of his mouth then he is not ready (don't confuse with drooling it out). If he swallows readily and enjoys eating than it won't hurt him.
If, though, the question is do you need to start giving him cereals at this point, the answer is no. Your baby does not need anything except milk or formula until he is six months old, and should continue to get most of his nutrients from milk or formula. The cereal is only in addition to.
Good Luck and Happy Eatting!

Yes it is ok. dr.s usually say that you have to wait until baby is about 3 months old. at 3 months they can start out on cereal and firsts. I gave my daughter a spoonful of cereal at bedtime and she slept GREAT all night long and she was only 2 weeks old. IF it seems like your baby is having a hard time digesting it then stop or feed them juice along with it to help it digest. but all in all i think your ok!! :) congrats on your little bundle of joy!!

If your baby doesnt push things out of his mouth with his tongue, he drinks 32 oz or more a day, and can sit in a carseat without flopping to one side or the other on his own, he can be fed rice cereal. It should be very thin though!! Check with the dr to make sure!!

I don't know, I breast fed my daughter for the first 6 months with no other foods, but that was because I was just breast feeding, no formula. But if its baby rice cereal I would make sure his pediatritian says yes, I think you might be able to but I would ask his doctor.

are you in a hurry to feed him rice? I would think to wait to get your ped's approval before giving your child rice. I waited for my doc to say it was ok with my son. Everyone thinks that just because you feed your baby rice they will sleep longer... it depends on your baby... not all babies feel fuller. my son didn't. At 5 months they said i could give my son rice with his milk.. he still woke up just as much as he did... the only thing different was he wanted rice with his bottle.. which made it a hassle for me.

How much does your son weigh? My nephew weighed 17 lbs. at four months and the doctor recommended starting him on cereal if his mom wanted to. I waited until six months, but my daughter was small.

No! His tummy cant handle it yet. His digestive system i only set up todigest liquid (ie: formula or breast milk). He does not need rice yet ( i hope you meant the cereal) as he is getting all the nutrients he needs from his liquid diet. Wait until he is around six months old to start him on solids.

I think so, you can start baby food (one at a time) at 4 months. Start off putting a little bit of cereal in his bottle.
