I'm 13, have a cell phone in case of emergencies, I hardly ever go out with friends (so I'm pretty much stuck at home all day everyday), AND I live right by my school...so there's nothing to worry about, right? Well, the thing is my mom has SO many rules and is SO overprotected that I feel I'm missing out on the life a teen should have. What can I do to get her to trust me or stop being so overprotected?

she will never stop protecting you and at this time in your little life she needs to protect you. i know there are things you want to do like now but your mom is doing her job setting limits on you. there are freaks out there waiting for your mother to make an mistake and you to. if you have friends ask mom can they come over or to take you guys to the movie. she should not let up until you can take care of yourself better. have you been reading and listening to the news, the child is always 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and sometime older come up missing or found dead. your mom love you so much she is not willing to take a chance with your life and you are lucky.

Yes, parents can be protective but there are limits. They can't protect you to the point where you have absolutely no life (outside school).

Can you bring friends over when your parents are home? That way your parents can meet your friends and potentially let you spend time with them after school once they have built a relationship with them and they know you have friends as responsible and reliable as you are.

What type of extracurricular activities or community service do you participate in at school? You might be able to find a life through that.
