There is an insert with every tampon box that has step by step instructions and pictures. The links below should also be helpful.

Also, it doesn't hurt at all. It may be a little uncomfortable inserting it in until you get used to is, but once it's in you should feel nothing at all. You don't even notice it. If you can feel it, then it is likely not in far enough. It may also be a little uncomfortable inserting it or taking it out if you are dry, like if you practice when you aren't actually on your period or if you use the wrong size for your flow.

My final advice is to try lite tampons whe you are practicing because they are the smallest. Also, stay relaxed and it will be much easier. If you don't get it right away, don't worrry. Just try again later. I remember that it took me a few tries to get it because I couldn't relax enough.

Well, it's very easy, as everyone else has commented, there are directions with pictures, but I would recommend you buy Platex slim fit tampons to start with. They have a plastic applicator which makes it much easier to insert and you will feel more comfortable with them in. You might want to test one out before actually inserting it. Just take it out of the wrapper, hold it at the bottom of the big part with your thumb and middle finger and push the small skinny part up with your pointer finger and you'll see the actual tampon come out. There is a string attached which will hang out so you can easily pull it out. To insert the tampon, you can either do it sitting on the toilet or stand up with one leg up. Gently insert into your vagina slightly pointed towards your back, put it in until your fingers reach the opening of your vagina. If it hurts, you are not doing it right and you should take it out and try again. Then push the skinny part in with your pointer finger (like you did before) and slowly pull just the applicator out, the tampon will stay in with the string out a little bit. It might feel odd, because you aren't used to it, but if it hurts you probably don't have it in far enough. When it's time to take it out, sit on the toilet and relax (like you would if you were peeing) and take the string and tug on it, the tampon should come out easily of it's full and ready to be taken out. You should change it every few hours or so especially if there is blood coming down that string. It shouldn't hurt at all, and they are MUCH better than pads!

Every box comes with a paper inside with instructions and illustrations. When its in properly you won't feel it at all. They have strings that hang from the end and you pull on the string to get it out when it is time. It shouldn't hurt to put it in or pull it out. I like the Tampax Pearls best; I've never had them leak on me and I prefer the smooth plastic applicator rather than the cardboard ones that some other brands have.

Read the directions.

It can hurt to take out/put in if it's too dry. If you can't get it out or in all the way, get in the bath, which will wet it and make it easier to get out (try it at home first).

In order to be in all the way, it should be about a finger's length up, not right inside like a wine cork.

Is this a serious question?

Well you just have to push it up until you cant feel it, it is actually quite comfortable and you wont really know its there. After 3 or 4 hours you just pull it out, it doesnt hurt it just feels a bit strange.

No! Its doesnt hurt at all!

When you first start using them, is the hardest part.

When you put it in, be sure to relax, if you are scared, your muscles tence up, and it makes it harder to put it in.

The easiest way to put it in, is to put one leg up on the toliet!

Good Luck!
