The best approach when dealing with a maipulative person is to bring to slimy manipulation to light, if they avoid the question by fireing it back at you then ask "why are you avoiding the question" and demand an answer.
manipulative people will continue to manipulate you if you let them think you are under there "spell" so stand up for yourself, and dont answer a question that was fired back at you

re-phrase the question in terms that make it personal to him. Ask the question in terms he must be forced to respond to. Use examples that will leave him seeming lame to not deal with it...that's what 'spin' is all about.

If I understand...I'd say, "I KNOW better, but I feel like you're trying to manipulate me when you say things like that! But I KNOW you'd never do a thing like that!"..........And the next time, "Whoops! There I go aGAIN!! Feeling like you're trying to get around me--I must be paranoid or something!!"

Don't play their games, don't allow them to get to your head like that, make them feel llike the lowest thing in this world by just staring at them and looking away and simply ignoring them

After the initial discussion;
I would say, "I am going to the bathroom now. Would you care to tell me how I must do that, as well?"
