Should everybody be excluded from having the right to carry, purchase, collect?

I totally believe in the 1st ammend.
Another question: What do you think of certain States that are trying to ban weapons even for the citizens that are legally responsibe. Furthermore, do you believe that a responsible citizen should have to "register" their weapon?? To what end?

The right to keep and bear arms it given to every citizen by the Constitution of The United States.
To even consider taking that right away would open the door to so many other possibilities.
I own a few handguns and enjoy shooting them as sport now. In the past I learned about handguns for my job. My husband is a hunter and also shoots for sport, thus he owns many rifles, shotguns, handguns etc. ALL are kept under lock and key. ALL are also for our protection if needed.
IF the right to have arms is taken then the only persons with arms would be the criminal. They ALWAYS find a way to get a weapon, no matter what, the good citizen is going to be penalized for the criminal.
A weapon is not the problem it is the hands holding the weapon, and criminal hands will always find a way to get that weapon. The honest man or women should have the honest right to their sport and Constitutional guarantees above all else

EDIT: I am so glad you believe in the first amendment but it is the SECOND amendment that guarantees you the right to keep and bear arms.

One thing that I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned is the reason behind our right to bear arms. Let's say hypothetically that the United States was taken over by a hostile gov't. This could be via an internal struggle like a coup, or an external force like a coalition of anti-American governments. It would come down to American citizens being able to protect themselves and take back our democracy.

People that only see having guns as a domestic protection from home-grown criminals are missing the bigger picture. Countries that think their governments have the right to outlaw weapons are putting their citizens in danger. People that have children at home and don't own guns are in my opinion down-right irresponsible, almost as irresponsible as the criminals that misuse guns.

I do believe in our constitutional right to own firearms and, as NRA as it sounds, I feel safer knowing that there's a gun in my house. If all guns were outlawed, as many would like, then all it would serve to do is to keep law-abiding citizens from having a gun to protect themselves with. The criminals wouldn't care about the law and, let's face it, there's no way that the government could keep there from being guns available through illicit means. That's my short answer. So while I believe in some level of regulation, I don't believe guns can be outlawed.

I think we should be allowed to have guns. If guns taken away from us than drug dealers and thugs are going to illegally have guns and crime will sky rocket. We need guns to protect or self, or else the thugs and robbers are just going to get guns any way and kill us since we have no protection. I mean come on all we might have in the is a knife that ain't gonna do nothin. I also believe people wit a criminal record shouldn't be allowed to have the right to carry. well that is it i hope i answered your question. see u later

I love them, for sport shooting. But, I also believe that gun safety should be an absolute requirement for anyone purchasing them.
Laws to screen who is purchasing them should be enforced.

But, remember, the criminals are better armed than most law enforcement agencies-- therefore, more guns in the hands of honest citizens is beneficial.

No, if you did that than only criminals would have guns. I think guns prevent crimes. If you think a girl might have a concealed weapon you might think otherwise before attempting to rape her. I have a concealed weapons permit and have take classes on gun safety. My husband was robbed at gunpoint in our front yard five minutes after I left the house in the early evening. The police said they believed it was connected to our business and they waited for me to leave because I was known to carry a gun on me on a regular basis. I did the deposits for the business.

I think shot guns or rifles for hunting or target practice are OK. I don't believe in people carrying automatic or concealed weapons, unless they are in the military or law enforcement.

We have as many guns in Canada as the U.S. but nowhere near the gun crime. It's not a gun ownership thing. Watch Michael Moore's Bowling For Columbine.

I've never shot a gun and my family doesn't have guns around. I don't agree with them just in the fact that they are used to take lives. And I don't think kids should run around with guns. However, it would be very wrong of the government to take away our right to bear arms. Then when times got bad we could never have a revolution; it would just be genocide like in other countries...
