Isn't it time that the Iraqis take care of themselves? Or will we always be "puppy-guarding" them?

For the last 18 months the 7,500 Bristish troops have been training Iraqi troops and police in previously secure provinces in iraq. They have not been in hostile areas of the country, they can leave because they are completing their mission. The US maintains 135,000 troops in other provinces where the area has not been secure, their mission is not yet complete.

The Brits are withdrawing 1,500 of 7,500 troops and are sending three times that number to Afghanistan.

We are still in Iraq because the Decider has decided that we are going to be there until his friends get control of the oil fields! Our government doesn't give a hang about the Iraqi people, only the people of this country care about them & we don't count!
We will be puppy guarding them only so long as money can be made by doing so.

The Iraqis need to be re-educated. That will take forty years as the re-education of the populace is a generation thing and two generations need to be re-educated (twenty years to a generation) if we are going to bring peace to them and an end to religious terrorism. It is dishonorable to leave without accomplishing the re-education of the Iraqis. It dis honers the troops that have died there and it dis honers the living that are fighting. I was dis honored in Viet-Nam by this country and don't wish that stigma to be placed upon the young men and women of our armed forces today. Cut and run is not an option that is honorable.

I think we are close to being done in Iraq so why quit now. Whoopi the Brits are leaving. How many troops do they have there total? Maybe 7,500 I don't see how we'll even miss them. The Arkansas national Guard could replace the entire British contengent. Don't let the drive by media stampede you into a retreat. The only way we can lose is to quit. The terrorist cannot defeat our military. If we let them do the job they'll finish the terrorist.

Its a difficult situation. We can't just go in and turn their world upside down and then leave, but I am tired of our people being killed for them. I think a time limit needs to go into affect. They should have a week or two to turn in their bad guys and if they don't and one more of our guys dies I would pull out and level the entire country. Harsh I know, but drastic times call for drastic measures. If we leave now with how it is they will just let some other crazy man come into power and start financially supporting terrorists for terrorizing other countries.

Gosh, where did youhear that Great Britain is leaving? You might want to check that out in a bit more depth. As a matter of fact, I understand Prince Harry is about to deploy to Iraq with his unit.

Excuse me, do you even watch the news. The only reason America is in Iraq is because of the oil. Iraq wishes to be a free country, but U.S.A. or bush isn’t leaving or giving up. I agree that the country isn’t stable on its own and needs great help in reconstruction. But all of this wouldn’t have happened in the 1st place if u.s. never got involved. all u.s. want is cheaper oil and only think of it own benefit.
