I am 36 weeks p[regnant with #2 and go in for my appointment in 2 days. Last appt. I was 2 cm dilated and a favorable cervix. We are planning on inducing in 3 weeks. Will my OB strip my membranes to make sure my cervix is ready for induction? My husband and I are hoping to go into labor within the next 2 weeks beacause he is not traveling. traveling is why we are planning an induction in the first place in 3 weeks. Just want to know if anyone has had their membrains stripped at 36 weeks as well, with a healthy pregnancy.

NO WAY!!!! Your babys lungs arent even FULLY developed yet!! I am 32 weeks pregnant with twins and only WISH I could make it to 36 weeks. Be thankful that you are going to make it farther along then 36 weeks there are tons of mothers that are visiting their babies in NICU because they arent fully developed.

According to my doctor ... after 34 weeks the baby lungs are mature enough. If there is any doubt the doctor will give you an injection of a steriod to be certain prior to the induction or stripping of membranes. Also remember the ultrasound dating can be off as much as 2 weeks.

Just remember every pregnancy is different. Your doctor isn't going to risk a law suit just to get things going. If all the conditions are right yes they will strip your membranes at 36 weeks. Had it done and had a healthy baby... happened to be my first one. I'm waiting on #3 now :) & 36 weeks today. Good luck and as crappy as it sounds have patience.

I read on these boards so many women on their soap box about... omg how horrible. Remember this isnt' an exact science... you can only do the best thing that you feel is right at the time. Do things for the right reasons and everything should turn out ok.

I had mine stripped on Monday at 39 weeks and 2cm and today is my due date and NOTHING!!! My doctor said he doesn't think it really does anything anyways. But no I never had it done at 36 weeks....sorry. I hope it all works out for you. I am probably going to induced tuesday or wednesday if he is not born this weekend.
