LOST question?

Question

Jack was in Thailand when he got the tattoo, so why was it written in Chinese?? Was this just a cultural error the producers made? or is there some significance to it being Chinese and not Thai?

Another question...why did the group of men beat Jack up on the beach while his girlfriend watched?

yeah, the tattoo originated in thailand but was in a chinese language. not too hard to understand for me. I see white people with chinese tattoos all the time. my friend is native american and has "to create" written in chinese on his right hand. but under some translations his tattoo could be misread just like jacks. my friend's tattoo really says "to destroy and to build" two symbols literally for each verb. but when you translate it the way it's supposed to be translated it means "to create". so when jack said to that ugly woman "yeah that's what it says, it's not what it means", i thought of my friend adam. I miss him. great guy. a starving artist from woodstock NY now living in tulsa OK

Don't you remember the "Girlfriend" saying that she was only allowed to use her gift on her people and if she did use it on him there would be consequences... I am guessing those were some of the consequences....
