I don't understand what to do...and what the "m" is there for..

thanks for answering in advance =]

Firs the formula is:

C=(PI)*d [d=diameter, C= circumference, PI=3.14]

now you said 46 then the formula is

46=3.14*d

after that you just divide

46/3.14=d

and there you go, that's your diameter.

The m means meters, as everyone has said. The number pi (3.1415926535...) is _defined_ as the ratio of any circle's circumference to its diameter.

Therefore, if you have a diameter, you multiply by pi to get a circumference. If (as you do) you have a circumference, you divide by pi to get diameter.

46 * pi / pi = 46

And the answer is in the same units as the original value (since pi has no units).

46 m.

m = meters
circumference ( given by the you ) = 46 * pi

there is a formula for circumference

circumference = 2 * pi * radius = pi * diameter

therefore

46 * pi = pi * d

d = 46 * pi / pi

d = 46 m

m is meters, the unit of measurement so ur answer will be in meters
The formula for circumference is C=Pi x diameter
