When I write a sentence and an abbreviated word (with a period) the next letter of the next word following is always capitalized...and it really shouldn't be...what can I do to correct thisi [This doesn't happen when I write on this particular Question and Answer site...and I don't know why?] However; for instance this is an example: 'It was 2 A.M. before I got to bed last night.' If I am writing just a normal e-mail or anything else, the ' b' on before would have been capitalized...how can I change this?

I've only seen this happen in my SMS with T9, and Microsoft Word does it if you use return to go to the next line rather than text wrapping it will automatically capitalize the first word of the next line and then question my grammar. There must be a way to change the settings/preferences so that it won't automatically correct or format for you. It might be helpful if you indicate which program this occurs in.

You can turn that function off on MSWord. But it's just as easy to backspace over the letter and retype it. That is, when you type a sentence and have a period for an abbreviation and then the next letter you type is made capital by MSWord, just backspace over it and retype it as lower case. It will then remain lower case because MSWord knows you didn't want it capitalized.

MSWord will also automatically correct spelling mistakes sometimes.
