Was it the longhorns elite secondary, carrying two thorpe award winners and the top two safeties in the nation? Was it execution problems by the Trojans(who had more total yards)? Anything else I'm not thinking of?

USC's always garbage defense.

Besides Young, he was the biggest Factor in winning the game, the other major contributing factor was USC's unexplainable game plan to not give Reggie Bush the ball, its like Bush just wasnt a part of the game plan.

Well, it certainly wasn't the defense as SC had 38 points. Texas could only win by outscoring them, which they did thanks to Vince Young. If the defense was at all responsible it was due to one play: stopping Lendale White on 4th and 2. In the end, Texas was able to make that one stop SC couldn't. However...

Remember when Bush threw that lateral and Texas recovered. Not only did that rob them of points, it produced a momentum swing that allowed Texas to keep it close by halftime. If he holds on to that ball and they punch it in we're talking about USC scoring mid 40's and a valiant Vince Young coming just short.

I agree with space boy, Infact, lets not forget about Michael Griffin's interception in the end zone. Both of those turnovers happened deep in texas territory. And lets also not forget about those few questionable calls. But in the end, you have to take your hat off to Young, who basically beat the almighty trojans all by himself. I'm a trojans fan, and yes, It broke my heart, but you have to respect that kind of talent.

Sorry man, Vince was a 1 man wrecking crew that day. D gave up crazy points, not much of a running game (other than him). The O-Line collapsed a lot, but I guess they were.

When you have Yince Young, you don't need another contributing factor. Look at the Titans.

I thought USC was flat the whole game and never played up to their potential. They never should have lost to Texas!
