What do you mean by good? Are you planning to be a road racer at some point? If not don't confuse being another immature jacka$$ on a sportbike with being good. If you want to be a racer learn your skills on a track at a super bike school not out on the road with the rest of us. If you don't plan to be a racer then good takes on a new meaning. Being a good road rider means being careful and not killing yourself trying to impress someone with a 90 mph wheelie. Yes you need skills to avoid potential accidents but you don't need to know how to corner at 120 mph.

You'll want to start with something forgiving, a bike that will let you know something is wrong when you ride it wrong, but not punish you by locking the brakes or doing an accidental wheelie with the slightest provocation. A GSXR, even the 600 cc variety, does not fall into this category.

So I would recommend starting with something less powerful, maybe even underpowered enough that you really have to learn to carry speed through the corners and practice your technique well. Maybe a Ninja 250, or something as large as 500 cc's. A slow bike is a good way to learn how to become a fast rider. And there's plenty of slots in club racing to run a Ninja 250 or GS500 on the track.

And take lessons from the pros. The best place to start in most states would be the Motorcycle Safety Foundation - they'll teach you the basics of riding, enough to get out and start practicing street riding. Once you've gotten a decent feel for how to control your bike, you can go to track days where you'll be able to learn from instructors and racers.

I don't think 4 wheelers will help. But dirt bikes are the best. You learn what to do in a slide how to control the bike in a slide front wheel or rear. and it is fun!! I started in the dirt 39 years ago in the dirt an that has saved my bacon so many times. I now ride a hot rodded buell.

My first motorcycle was a 50cc Yamaha Champ. Decades later I'm presently licensed to ride every two and three wheel vehicle on the planet within the USA and its oversea possessions. I'm a
year around rider. I like both street and off-road capable machines. This happened after years of practice. The only club
I ever joined was Alki-Angels and that was to eliminate personal substance abuse problems. I'm sober and love hybrids.

depends...some are naturals, others are not. it takes a lot of courage to go and do something that can be so dangerous (although you have a much higher risk of getting hurt from a car than from just wiping out). best advice is to Take it slow and dont try anything before you are ready for the consequences.

yes, but dont try to learn by trying to be a rock star...take it slow...a big bike like a gsxr is alot different than a dirt bike.

It is possible, but you will have to work at it. It won't come to you in a short period of time; it takes a lot of practice to become good at anything.

Micheal Jackson was born a poor black child and grew up to be a rich white man.

I guess anything is possible.

Good Luck.
