i think what i mean is, what does he mean when he says the words "purple rain" ......i know he's not saying that he wants to see somebody in purple water that falls from the sky. lol

If you watch the film Purple Rain the song plays when we see Prince's father ill in hospital. It seems to be about Prince's relationship with his father. The lyrics suggest a relationship with a woman though. It's about moving on to something new with some regrets.
