I'm from the Midwest and I'm overweight.

One reason is that instead of eating 3 meals a day I just eat a little bit here and there all day long. Partly from being bored, part nerves.Of course I like food to.

I also think a big thing is living here, I was never overweight until I moved here from Tennessee. There's absolutely nothing to do in my area in the winter besides shop, movies (snack) and eat out. I always lose weight in the summer because I can get outside and swim, walk etc...

I don't think your alone in your observations either. I've had family visit from different parts of the country and most of them always comment on how many fat people there are in this part of the country.

Have you lived here?

The people here have maybe 5 months of being able to be outside, and it is mostly rural, meaning that though there are some major cities here, most of the area is farming, and farmers eat a lot and don't get a chance to get to the health club as often as the "city slickers". If you have ever seen a farmer eat (and what a farmer's wife cooks), you would understand why.

But what is funny is that though we are such an "unhealthy" population, we produce a lot of very large, strong football players (they are corn fed in the Midwest. . .). The high schools have some guys that rival professional football players in the matter of size.

Hope this explains it. And maybe one shouldn't judge. I would rather be here in the Midwest and able to eat real food than in some of the cities with their tofu, soy and lactaid. . .

It's not cool to be skinny. If your weight is normal people call you anorexic. I'm 18 and I live in the midwest.

midwest? heck, try all of america. been out to the south recently? i think 9 out of 10 are fat, with the 1 out of 10 being under 16 years of age.

i deem it because of laziness. of course ask them, they will all claim its "normal"

There's plenty of tubbies in the blue states as wellYou would think they'd lose weight because they don't need to use a car as much. No,they just waddle from one fast food joint to another.

Poor diets (too much fried food, not enough fresh food) and no exercise (drive everywhere).
