Verbal communication is always the clearest way to get your point across. Sending something in a written form can be misinterpreted and it is not always easy to tell the intended tone of the document.

However, you have to speak directly to those who you are communicating to. Once information gets passed on, the meaning will usually take on a new meaning with each recipient who receives the message.

Short answer: direct conversation is the best form of communication.

I think your first answerer had a cute and correct answer!

We are WAY too dependent on e-mail. For heavens sake why do perfectly healthy people e-mail or IM someone down the hall or 3 cubes away? What prevents everyone from standing up and walking over and asking a question face to face?

Back before e-mail, we did communication enhancing things like having meetings (sometimes a bore, but at least you could be sure who got the message). We had lunch together and talked in the coffee room. We stopped to visit with our neighbors and friends...remember when people sat on front porches and just chilled?
