i find that any word that is used in such a way to make someone sigled out or stand mout (in a bad way) is a bad word. I think it should be considered a cuss word. people in society today have to look past the differences in the physical apperance of others.

In a free society, there should be no forbidden words. By forbidding them, you make them all the more subject to surreptitious use. It gives some people a thrill.
What words will be forbidden next? Maybe we can have a dictionary of forbidden words to amend the constitution. Would we include for example "cracker," "White devil," Motherf.....r?"
The last word seems to be most popular among certain segments of society. Why should that abominal word be more acceptable than the N-word? I think it is worse.
Most people don't realize that, by forbidding the use of the N-word, they have created a new word that means exactly the same that word The new word created is "N-word."
Communication is the art of delivering a meaning of words from the speaker or writer to the listener or reader. In using the term "N-word" you are delivering the meaning of the original word, to which you object. What have yuo gained? Nothing!
My advice, ignore it and it will go away in time. Or better yet, learn and teach all to be respectful. That is something a lot of people have forgotten. Do you see the incivility and meanness in the U. S. today? to what do you attribute that? How about the lack of sportsmanship in athletes today. More athletes have been indicted recently than those who have graduated from college. Just think about it for a while. Then answer your own question

Censorship is a very dangerous thing. Many great writers of most races have used words that then or later become offensive. Mark Twains' character "Ni@@er Jim" was a good and strong character written in the language of the day. His name was one thing that gave the characterization power. Now edited out of most copies, the story loses some of what made it a classic in the first place. Of course there are many other examples.
It is not a perfect world. Some years ago, Oprah Winfrey pushed the idea that words can only hurt you if you let them. Now she wants to make it a crime to say the "N-Word". Of course, if it is a crime for one it is a crime for all. The thought police are everywhere. It is ridiculous to say that one race or group of people can belittle themselves, but nobody else can. Musicians villified for portraying cultures they don't directly belong to, either with humor or without. Artists being banned or punished for portaying symbols some groups find offensive.
In America, this is wrong. We became a country offending others. And the reason we became a country was to provide a place for all people to accept that not everyone is going to think like everyone else. A polititian lost his job using the word "ni@@er" in its proper context, because people were ignorantly offended. That is VERY wrong. We have become way too sensitive. It would be nice for people to always treat each other with respect, and understanding. But if somebody does or says something you don't like, don't start banning and making things illegal. the next liberty they take might be one you would rather not lose.

the n word is not a word that you can associate with anything good , i would think that's one reason why you don't like the word. i really feel black people should inform their children about the history of that word and maybe black children would grow up not using the n word. blacks as a race use that word more then any other race and they are always upset when they hear it said by another race. i call that double standard, if you don't want to hear it, you should never say it. you see, blacks thinks it is okay for them to use it and it is not. my mouth is free like your mouth, if you can say it so can i no matter what my race is. if blacks don't want to hear the n word, then stop the madness now!!!

The "n" word is just one of the many derogatory terms used to describe a group of people. If we are to stop using the word ******, then we're to stop using racial slurs altogether.
I find it interesting that a TV program I was watching bleeped the word "******" out of a conversation they were having on race and labeling, but did not bleep "kike." The word was used in the right context; they were discussing derogatory names and stuff, but they bleeped "******" and left the word "kike" in there.
Why is "******" worse than "kike" or "****" or "wop"?
That's what I want to know!
P.S. - Notice that even in this post the word "******" is filtered while "kike" and "wop" are not.... The other 4-letter word that is filtered is the derogatory name used for Asians.
There's something to think about...

I absolutely agree with you.
I am white and I'm simply tired of hearing both white and black racists every day. Everything they say is nonsense. They say "n" hadn't evolved, I start talking about Darwin, they say they are tired and that's how everything finishes. None of them actually understand what are they talking about. But the worst thing is that they influence teenagers. I'm fourteen and many of my mates are racists. That's just horrible.

I agree really a hateful, ugly word. I have heard it to describe Arabic people too and it is so offensive. It's word used to descirbe someone as if they are almost sub-human and I feel that people that use the word only show how ignorant they really are.

Yes. The word is a racial slur and should not be used. No one likes being called names so why not treat everyone with respect. I'm with you.
