I would address him as "Mr." If he prefers you to call him by his first name, he'll tell you.

Go with Mr. The worst that can happen is that he will ask you to call him 'Ron'.
If you just go ahead and call him Ron he might be offended, even if he never says anything about it.

If he wants you to address him by his first name he will tell you. Personally, I would address him formally. Can't go wrong.
