Just like the meaning of life, there is no one answer. And probably all have some truth and some untruth (not false, just not correct--very hard to explain).
Some consider death an evolutionary help. If none of us died there would be an eventual lack of food and space for us to live in. Made all the worse as diseases and hunger run rampant, because there would be no chance for relief. Death of some allows for the life of others.
Some consider death a transition. A way for a soul to leave a body and move on to another body and life, and in so doing have a chance to learn new things. And in this way the soul will be able sooner or later to learn to attain Nirvana (peace and lack of want). Or another way may be to leave the body to go back to the God that created that soul.
Some consider death a punishment for a failing in humans, the presence of sin. In this idea God has the right (being that He is our creator) to decide what is best for us, but two humans (Adam and Eve) decided they would be better off deciding for themselves. They found out (as did all their descendants) that they were quite incapable of doing so and so they had to be punished.
And some think (just like they do about life), that there is no real reason for death. It is something that just happens, something we haven't found a way around yet. A blind chance and a random throw of the dice created life that was incapable of surviving forever.
Who really knows for sure which one it is?

Let's see: "Death is Nature's way of telling you to be careful." Also: "Death is what makes us appreciate and enjoy life." Or: "Death is what happens when you're making other plans." No, really! My personal favorite: "Death is the alternative to living with Aunt Rose."

We do not experience death. And we cannot give meaning to that which we do not experience. Death is a non-answer. just like when you divide by zero in math, so is death. death is the sum negation of all that we do experience, and as such a negation, we cannot experience death. Death is Nothingness.

It means the cessation of life as one knows it and the beginning of immortality. This mortal must put on immortality" (1 Cor. 15:54). ...
If one has not made arrangements by taking a "death insurance policy," "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9) ... and dies with out Christ as his Lord and Savior (saving themselves from damnation,
Hebrews 9:27. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, ...
This will where that person is judged "guilty" because they died in their sins: Jesus will say, Depart from me worker of inquity into outer darkness. He will either say I NEVER knew you or I DON'T know you . Here is where the guardian angel that was assigned to them since birth cast them into hell.
Now if the person was covered with the blood of Christ, the angel takes them to heaven.
So you have your choice while you still have a breath in your body: Smoking or non Smoking?

It means that our life is complete. We have done what we were meant to do and now it is time to make room for someone else who has things to do.
