The Japanese, lol, it was a 1945 film to get America into the war...

But in Gerry Andersons Thunderbirds, International Rescue's nemesis - the evil Hood. The Hood's two main assistants are named with architectural terms for vertical (Mullion) and horizontal (Transom) pieces used in the construction of doors or windows.

The Hood likes to collect important secrets so that he can sell them for a high price. He's set his sights on getting hold of the secrets of International Rescue's fantastic vehicles.
Just by chance he happens to have a half brother who works as a servant for Jeff Tracy. Although Kyrano is loyal beyond a shadow of doubt to I.R. he is under some kind of Voodoo spell that enables the Hood to sometimes control him.

Versatile Australian actor Ray Barrett provided the voices of John Tracy and The Hood, as well as many other one-off characters. He had worked for Anderson before, voicing both Commander Shore and Titan in his previous series, Stingray. Thanks to his extensive experience in live radio back in Australia, he was adept at rapid changes from one voice to another and he could also perform both English and American accents convincingly.

The five brothers were originally named after five of the "Mercury Seven" - John Glenn (III), Scott Carpenter (I), Alan Shepard, Virgil 'Gus' Grissom and Leroy Gordon Cooper.
