Soccer / Football Help!?

Question

I want to get into the sport.
I especially want to watch the Championship Leagues but I haven't been able to find any other the Saturday Matches anywhere on cable.

Another Question.

In the Table which characterizes the leading teams in the league... what do the abbreviations stand for?
GP W D L Pts GF GA GD
Well I know that Pts is points but yea....
any help will be appreciated.

The next Champions League games are March 6 and 7 at 14:45 ET on ESPN2.

GP=Games Played
W= Win
D= Draw
L= Loss
Pts
GF= Goals For
GA= Goals Against
GD= Goal Differential

3 points for a win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss.

In the Champions League, the out rounds are a home and away series. The winner is the team with the best aggregate score (the most goals between the two games.) If both teams are tied on aggregate after the end of the second game, the team with the most away goals is the winner.

in a football league tables, the abbreviations on top of the league are as follows:

GP, MP or P - matches played by teams concerned
W - matches won
D - matches draw
L - matches lost
GF or F - goal for or goals scored
GA or A - goals against or goals conceded
GD - goal difference (goals for minus goals conceded)
Pts - points

the points are calculated as follows:
- 3 points for a win
- 1 point for a draw
- no points for a lost
