This is more of a perceived phenomena. There are handsome and intelligent unmarried men out there; however, the perception of all the "good men are taken" occurs in part because they are married/unavailable. People in general tend to overlook many flaws associated with they can't have (the opposite sex being the most common). Many times people will overlook the less desirable traits or characteristics of someone that is taken based on the assumption that since they are "off the market" they must have all/mostly good qualities. Additionally, if we (people in general) know that the opposite sex is unavailable we are more likely to relax and be ourselves around them, since it alleviates the pressure of "impressing" them. Try not to be taken in by this little trick our brains like to play on us and instead make a conscious effort to notice the whole person good and bad qualities, and when around other available men, relax and be yourself you will be surprised at the men you will attract just by being comfortable and confident with yourself.

'wouldn't that be obvious? Smart, intelligent women identify them and quickly snap them up. Plus, really intelligent men - handsome or otherwise, like really intelligent women and are drawn to them. like gravitate to like, and both make a point of being in the kind of places where the other is most likely to be found.
