Ribosomes need ATP in order to move along the messenger RNA, and also to form new peptide bonds.

Protein pumps are moving a substance UP its concentration gradient. That movement is not spontaneous, and so energy of ATP is required to drive the process.

A lot of new chemical bonds get made in the Golgi, and forming those bonds requires energy. Also, a lot of movement of membrane vesicles happens there, and that movement also requires energy.

Animal cells get glucose originally from carbohydrate-containing foods. Digestion of the foods produces glucose that is absorbed and moved around the body in the blood stream. Glucose actually enters most cells by facilitated diffusion. Plant cells produce carbohydrates by photosynthesis. Excess glucose is stored in plants in the form of starch.
