I had a plastic sports bottle fall on the element and burn and now I can't get the smell out of the dishwasher. I have washed the same load three times now and it still smells pretty bad and the smell is stuck to the dishes. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of the horrible smell?

vinigar should do the trick OR put the dishes in the sink with bleach and water.
Make sure to rewash them after though because bleach can be dangerous. as for the dishwasher take out the dishes, do a load of hot water and spray vinigar in it and still use the soap....hopefully that works!

you will have to work on the element -
clean it thoroughly - get all residue off it
and check the filter at the bottom - is there anything still in it
any parts still floating around?
any plastics I wash go in the UPPER tray - away from the element (of course - great advice after the fact!)

it is going to no longer seize hearth du to its being submerged on a similar time as the washing gadget is in use yet i would not flow away it unattended the two. As for the scent nevertheless being there a week later, I furnish this question to you, might a rectum scent one week after it wasn't thoroughly wiped clean?

I would like to add a caution to the advice you are getting. Please turn off the electrical circuit when scraping on the element and other parts. Assuming it is electric.

you have to scrape all the melted plastic off the burner and put vinegar in the rinse cycle.
