I have $60 worth of gift cards at Bath and Body Works. On the back of the bottle it says "this finished product was not tested on animals". Now normally I would just avoid buying the brand incase there is a chance that some part of it was tested on animals. But it seems a shame to waste those gift cards. Am I still supporting the company even though I wouldn't be actually paying for the products myself?

If you are really opposed to animal testing, then you shouldn't use the gift card, even though you didn't pay for it.

It says THE FINAL PRODUST WAS NOT TESTED, which means that they DO test during the process of creating a product, just not the ones that are for final sale.

I got this from a website:
Best Animal-Friendly Retailer
Bath & Body Works, Inc.

With more than 1,500 stores in the United States, Bath & Body Works is one of the most popular personal-care product companies around. And it's also one of the nicest companies to animals, as Bath & Body Works refuses to participate in cruel and unnecessary animal tests. Whether you choose Warm Vanilla Sugar Volumizing Shampoo or White Cherry Blossom Bubble Bath, you will look gorgeous, and no animals will be harmed!

If you read carefully, it doesn't state that they don't test, just that they refuse to participate in cruel and unnecessary testing. In my opinion, they still test on animals.

It depends upon what you're after. Gift cards actually represent an interesting case. Whoever got the gift card actually had to give them money, so to some extent the money is already spent. Arguably, refusing to spend the card might represent an economic benefit for B&BW, because they've got sixty bucks and all they did was give away a piece of plastic and a promise to give up sixty dollars worth of product recorded as a few bytes of data into their corporate database, so in a sense if that card never gets spent, the only party who's gotten a gift is Bath and Body Works.

if you feel that strongly, i would either ask for a cash refund and give the reasons - alternatively you could request informtion as to which if any products they sell are "totally animal test free"

if you use products from a company that test's for cosmetic reasons then yes you will be supporting them.

You could always ask them if you can exchange them for cash b/c there is nothing you want, most places are understanding. Or you could try selling the cards for the cash value to someone who shops there and just buy something somewhere else.

The company already has the money from the person who bought the gift card. If you don't redeem them, you're basically giving them money.

as quickly as the product has been examined on animals, that is here to stay. protest it, yet do no longer boycott. it rather is like once you're vegetarian and artwork at a cafe that throws out nutrition it rather is 5 minutes previous and shall we its workers help themselves to that nutrition. you could consume it or throw it out, makes no distinction. in case you boycott one product, they at the instant are not gonna make extra. in the event that they do, the different will nevertheless be extra fee-effective. Use consumer-friendly experience.

Spend away! According to PETA, Bath and Body Works does not test on animals. They have a list of those who do and it reads something like this:
Companies resist progress because the
crude nature of animal tests allows them to market many products that might be
determined to be too toxic if cell culture tests were used. Let companies know how
you feel about this.
