K, I could never figure out why our dishwasher did a junky job cleaning dishes. I have been buying organic dishwasher detergent for years. Well, I decided just once to buy non-organic. Cascade actually. 1/2 the price, and twice as big! Anyways, it TOTALLY washes my dishes. Works SOOOO well. Problem is, it smells like a chemical bomb when it's washing them, and when I take out the dishes they smell like that too, especially all my daughters plastic cups. I have to decide between 1) really clean dishes that may be harmful to our health or 2) not clean dishes that cost a heck uva lot more. Anyone out there find any organic products that work, or perhaps non-organic that is maybe not so chemically bad?

Hi, I totally know where you are coming from. No 1 - I never use the rinse aid only white vinegar - no 2. a fantastic new product for the dishwasher . It's not labeled "organic" but is chlorine free, environmentally friendly, non-caustic and has a built in rinse aid.

Method cleaning products are biodegradable. The containers are made with #1 or #2 plastic, the easiest to recycle. The products, in general, are concentrated so they last a long time and require a lot less packaging for the same amount of cleaning as the other products. The scents are clean and light, as opposed to the overwhelmng stench of the chemical cleaners. AND the company founders have a sense of humor. Check out some of their online information. Target stores usually carry their full line of cleaning products.

Try adding citric acid to your dishwasher. Either by itself or as an additive. It is the active ingredient in Jet Dry. We have customers who buy it in bulk and say that's all they use - never buy the detergent and does a great job. Really inexpensive if you buy the large container.
