K, I could never figure out why our dishwasher did a junky job cleaning dishes. I have been buying organic dishwasher detergent for years. Well, I decided just once to buy non-organic. Cascade actually. 1/2 the price, and twice as big! Anyways, it TOTALLY washes my dishes. Works SOOOO well. Problem is, it smells like a chemical bomb when it's washing them, and when I take out the dishes they smell like that too, especially all my daughters plastic cups. I have to decide between 1) really clean dishes that may be harmful to our health or 2) not clean dishes that cost a heck uva lot more.

Anyone out there find any organic products that work, or perhaps non-organic that is maybe not so chemically bad?

I've been using Seventh Generation for a while now, and dishes still get clean, and don't have that chemical odor. I use ALL Seventh Generation cleaning products throughout my house.

I would hand wash all plastic, wont matter what you use, it will smell, there all much the same, Do not use Joy dish soap for hand washing , It all so leaves a smell on the dishes, Best by far is Sunlight dish soap, and it s mild on your hands, I wont have a dish washer in the house, I only use a dish pan and hot water and sunlight dish soap and dishes are clean and done in no time .

I use Cascade but never found that odor you are talking about. If you want organic products look on line and do a search of "organic cleaning products for the home" and you will find a multitude of websites that sell organic cleaning products for the home.

I like the "Everyday Living" brand that I get at Kroger. This is not an organic brand, but it is very inexpensive and doen't have as strong an odor as cascade. However, if you can afford a good organic brand that would probably be the best for your health.

try including citric acid for your dishwasher. both on its own or as an additive. it really is the lively element in Jet Dry. we've customers who purchase it in bulk and say it really is all they use - not at all purchase the detergent and does an excellent job. truly decrease priced in case you purchase the great field.
