I went to the Rodeo this weekend in Houston, TX and all white people sponsor each other and have all western attire and laughing and having a good time and they have their private party tents but the few black people that were there looked out of place, why blacks can't stick together and do things the civilized way like whites?

I dont think all Black people are like that, but I I have seen some.
I think it all goes back to the slave mentality. I am not saying blame the White people, I am saying that Blacks are not changing their way of thinking and the "slave mind" is being handed down from generation to generation.

More specifically, I think we wanted so badly to be excepted by Whites that once segregation was taken away, we forgot about each other and went mingling with the White people and we dont stick together like we did when we were fighting to be seen simply as Human Beings.

I think I know what you mean. When I was in the military and had first arrived to my base with other people who were new. I noticed that the whites quickly embraced the new whites, showed them around and helped them with learning the job.

As for the blacks, who happened to be separated into four different groups kind of turned their noise up to all the new folks. They didn't talk to us unless they had something negative to say and when we asked for help learning things on the job they told us to figure it out ourselves.

After we eventually got tired of being pushed around we retaliated, which soon led to arguments and physical fights with other blacks, while the whites remained peaceful.

You can have two white families living next door who have been feuding for over 5 generations, but they'll form a temporary alliance to face a common enemy. Unfortunately most blacks can't do that.

Its interesting that thats how you view things where you are, I livie in the north east and Black people are more tightly bonded and seem to be more of a unit than other groups. I do believe we find groups we are comfortable in to socialize with. look at all the ethnic clubs Italian American, Polish American and german American, just to name a few.. Orentials have a strong sence of heritage that it seems they share and interact with there own so I belive your awnser would be that thats how it is in your area, but come up to Harlem and see if you feel the same way..but its not who you hang with it how you treat the groups you don't associate with respect and concideration of there ways and beliefs are key

Your generalizations seem to be the result of a biased observation.

Anyone can feel or act as an outsider. If you are out of your comfort zone/element because of being in unfamiliar surroundings or involved in an activity where you feel different from the majority of people, it is only natural.

They can and do. You were just at a function that mainly white people were there (as evidenced by "the few black people that were there looked out of place"). That is why it appeared that the white people were getting along so well. There were just more of them.

Interesting generalization. I have lived in places where whole neighborhoods get together and have parties. I wouldn't use one example as the scale for all black people, or even all white people.

I think its mainly because whites have the mentality of being socially superior, and since they have it, they must act it. And blacks, i've seen it many times....they dont want to act like they're "white"..i dont know why they have that mentality, they prefer to like do things, that they consider "blk" and i suppose they didn't want to be doing the same thing they saw the white folks did.

Well, let me say first of all that all black people aren't uncivilized. And there are White people that are uncivilized. We are in a very big world and people of all colors have all the same qualities good and bad. I wouldn't be so stereo typical if I were you. Just open your eyes.

I know I'm wrong for giggling at this, but I can't help it. All my life I've been hearing about how black people stick together, but white's don't.
If you have an argument with one black person, the entire black "hood" hates you, or so it seems. But it does't work the other 'way 'round. White folks don't "got your back".

What I want to know is...
....
....
WHY CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG????????????
