I never got to see him myself =[ But Sir. Stanley Matthews is regarded as the best.

"The man who taught us the way football should be played" - Pelé on Stanley Matthews.

I had the pleasure of seeing Diego Maradona playing for a Boca Juniors seniors team at the end of 2005 and he still had the skills, even if he was carrying a little weight.

And I'm no Manchester United fan but I've had the pleasure of seeing Eric Cantona and Peter Schmeichel play and they are outstanding.

Of the current crop of players Wayne Rooney, Steven Gerrard and Petr Cech are the best I've every seen.

My apologies that they are all players from the Premier League but coming from England its all I've seen

Garrincha

Born a cripple and won the World Cup twice for Brazil and was the main inspiration (Not Pele as people believe) for the 1970 Brazil squad. (See below for a video of the great man)

Best I've seen myself play: Cantona. You don't come across greatness like that often.

The best player is Brazilian, 'Garincha'. Was the main player in helping Brazil win the 1958 and 1962 World Cup. Not Pele.

As I'm not that old, the best player I have seen in action is Kaka.
