Daily exercise. Go to bed and wake up about the same time every night (yes, even on weekends). Set your radio to come on a few minutes before the buzzer goes off. Get a timer to set your lamp to come on 10-15 minutes before you plan to get up, since waking up to light is shown to make people feel more rested, alert and cheerful. Plan out your outfit get everything you need including socks and underpants ready the evening before, so you don't feel as rushed in the morning. Plenty of water all day. Don't use the bedroom for eating, paying bills or anything else other than sleeping or sex if you're in a relationship. Keep the room clean and clutter free to promote a feeling of peace. The bedroom should be a sanctuary at the end of the day.

If you find that you don't get to sleep within about 10 minutes, then get up and leave the room for a few minutes. Get a drink of milk, read a book in the living room for a little bit, then go back to bed. If you spend the whole night tossing and turning it will make for a less restful sleep for the next few nights.

Don't go to bed stressed out. If you are working on something that is stressful, then get to a good stopping point before bed time. Take a warm shower, and relax a few minutes before going to bed.

If possible, avoid stimulants like caffeine, alcohol, or sleeping pills. They might work for a quick fix, but in the long run they mess with your natural sleeping cycle.
Try to do something relaxing before you go to bed so that you won't be too wound up to fall asleep.
Go to bed the same time every night and your body will get used to it.
Some teas are good for a natural way to relax fast too.

Go to bed at about the same time every night. Don't eat or drink anything after 2 hours before you turn in. Turn the phone OFF. -And good luck with your new job! :)

Go to bed early with a nice mug of something. Just think of all the positive things that the job will bring for you.
Sleep tight...Have a good day tomorrow.

I try to get bed by 10.30 and read for 1/2 hour, usually with a drink - tea, coffee, chocolate, water - any kind. Then I snuggle down, thank God for a great day, and ask Him to steer me through the next.

The important thing is to be at peace, having handed over all my problems.

I would suggest mediation. It may sound silly, if you are not used to it. It should help you relax your mind and your body. You can mediate just bedfor bed, with low lighting and easy music. You let thoughts come in your mind and then let them go. Don't dwell on any one thought. There is no need to drug yourself to sleep. Learn to control your mind. In other words, you decide what you think about or dwell over. The choice is yours.
