To be a dreamer is to be in touch with your soul. You are part of something wonderful and are connected with the most mysterious parts of the universe. Try and use your dreams to help you with your life, or use them to escape from the dull and the ordinary.

Definitely ok. We all dream when we sleep. Some dreams are vivid, and are remembered upon awakening. We call them REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, in medical parlance.
Its during dreams, our brain activates those areas of the brain, which contain the images of our dreams. The brain checks to see if everything is okay. Also, memories do strengthen and organize during sleep and dreams.
Many a things have been discovered during dreams. Kekule, the German chemist dream' t of a snake biting its own tail which inspired him to postulate benzene's ring structure.
But we must have our feet anchored firmly to the terra firma for a stable background, so that we have a strong and sane perspective to judge.

--We all day dream, but to take our dreams as a serious way of life could indeed be folly. Note this article in part--
*** g75 1/22 p. 3 Should Your Dreams Guide Your Life? ***
"MOST people desire sound guidance in their lives. They want to know more about themselves, their future and how to make wise decisions. But where can people find such guidance?
Many today look to their dreams as a guide in life. This is nothing new. Interest in dreams has a lengthy history. Ancient writings reveal that dream interpretation played an important part in the lives of the Babylonians, the Egyptians and the Greeks of long ago. People would often sleep overnight at “dream oracles” in the hope of receiving communication from a god in a dream.
But why all this interest in dreams?
It may be because dreams are so puzzling, lacking in organization and coherence. In the topsy-turvy world of dreams a person may see himself in an auditorium viewing a fencing match instead of hearing a lecture. He may dream of animals talking or people and objects floating through the air. Often people envision themselves trying to sprint free from an onrushing locomotive, only to be virtually frozen in their tracks. But none of these bizarre happenings seem abnormal to the dreamer—until he wakes up, that is."......
--Concerning a Biblical perspective, IF you have a genuine concern, note the need for caution:
....."In view of this, fascination with dreams today can be dangerous. The Bible, at Zechariah 10:2, associates certain dreams with “divination,” saying: “The practicers of divination, for their part, have visioned falsehood, and valueless dreams are what they keep speaking.” Divination involves gaining secret knowledge, especially about future events, with the aid of occult powers.
Could God approve of a procedure that leads to “valueless dreams”? The Scriptures, at Deuteronomy 18:10-12, state:
“There should not be found in you anyone who . . . employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events . . . For everybody doing these things is something detestable to Jehovah.”
God’s Word here associates divination (including the looking for omens, as in dreams) with spiritism, which involves the influence of wicked spirit forces. (Eph. 6:12) Because wicked spirits may occasionally cause dreams that correctly predict the future, God warned his people to shun the “dreamer of a dream” who would encourage false worship, even if “the sign or the portent does come true of which he spoke to you.”—Deut. 13:1-3; compare Acts 16:16

Best thing to be! It is good for you to dream. You will never get anywhere unless you dream. Daydreaming? It is very good for you, like meditation. Dreaming of bigger and better things? You will get there if you wish. Dreaming while you are asleep? That is what we do to prepare for real action!

From the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali:
Peace (steadiness of the chitta) can be reached through meditation on the knowledge which dreams give.
The significant words in Sutra 38 are the phrase "the knowledge which dreams give" and in this connection the commentary on Sutra 10 is of interest. The oriental occultist uses the word "dream" in a much more technical sense than does the westerner and this must be fully grasped by the aspirant. To the oriental, the deepest dream condition is that in which the real man is sunk when in physical incarnation. This corresponds to that dream state which we recognize as caused by the vibration of the cells of the physical brain. Chaos, lack of continuity and ill regulated eventualities are present, coupled with an inability to recollect truly and accurately when awake. This condition is physical plane dreaming. Then there is the dream condition in which the man participates when immersed in sensuous perception of one kind or another, either of pleasure or of pain. This is experienced in the astral or emotional body. The knowledge given by the physical plane condition is largely instinctual; that achieved through the astral dream condition is largely sensuous. One is racial and group realization, the other is relative to the not-self and to man's relation to the not-self.
There comes in again a higher state of dream consciousness in which a faculty of another kind comes into play, and this might be called the imagination, bringing its own form of knowledge. Imagination involves certain mental states such as:
Memory of things as they have been known, as states of consciousness,
Anticipation of things as they may be known or of states of consciousness,
Visualization of the imaginary conditions and then the utilization of the invoked image as a form, through which a new realm of realization may be contacted, once the dreamer can identify himself with that which he has imagined.
In these three dream states we have the condition of the thinker in the three planes in the three worlds, from the state of ignorant savagery to that of the average enlightened man. It leads on then to a much higher state of dream consciousness.
The true use of the imagination necessitates a high degree of control and of mental power and where this is present leads eventually to what is called the "state of samadhi". This is that condition wherein the adept can put the entire lower man to sleep, and himself pass into that realm wherein the "dreams of God" Himself are known, and in which knowledge of the "images" which the Deity has created can be contacted and seen. Thus the adept can intelligently participate in the great plan of evolution.
Beyond this state of samadhi lies the dream state of the Nirmanakayas and of the Buddhas, and so on up the scale of hierarchical life till that great Dreamer is known, who is the One, the only Narayana, the Lord of the World Himself, the Ancient of Days, our Planetary Logos. The student can only arrive at a very dim understanding of the nature of these dream states as he studies the idea conveyed in the earlier statement to the effect that, to the occultist, life on the physical plane is but a dream condition."
From Occult Meditation:
A dreamer whose dreams never materialize, a builder who stores up material which he never employs, a visionary whose visions are of no use to gods or men, is a clog upon the system universal. "
Edison dreamed his dream of light then worked on that dream until he made it a physical reality. I say dream away but if you dream of something useful for the planet, create it. Add your efforts and determination to your dreams and make them come true. Best wishes for you :-)

Yes, that is how creative people come up with new ideas.
But stick to the arts and scientific research. Most work in this world doesn't call for dreaming or creativity.
