Ive just brought two baby rabbits (there so cute) Only problem is there twins and both look the same. Ive look all over them and they both have the same markings.
What is the best way of telling them apart? As i want to name them and know which are which.

first i would find out if they are boys or girls or one of each...if you don't how to do that - it is very simple. hold the rabbit by the back of its neck
(gently !) and flip the rabbit on its back. take the other hand and seperate the back legs...if you see a v or y shaped outlet for it to pee from , it is probably a girl..other wise press gently to seperate the v or y and if it is a boy.. a penis will
come thru the opening. now if you have any food coloring...like yellow or blue or green..put one drop of food coloring on the boy and another color on the girl , if you have 2 sexes. if you have the same sex, just use a color you like. one drop on the end of an ear should suffice. If you have male and female...watch out ..they start breeding at about 4 months. sometimes the female will mount the male to get him excited and if he should breed to her, it is not considered a "good" breeding unless the male falls over. I know that sounds wierd but it is true...if they breed you will need to remove the male rabbit so he does not disturb the female as she creates a nest out of little turfs of fur she pulls from her tummy area.
also some crushed hay or grasses that have been rinsed off may help her. Make sure she has good food and fresh water (drop bottles are the best).
in about 21 to 26 days you will have babies and you simply must resist the urge to disturb the nest
if the mother feels her nest is threatened, she will kill and eat her babies. wait about 7 days to investigate your new arrivals... happy bunnies!!!

One thing you could do is get them seperate cages, and have a little sign above each that has the name of the right one, and only get one out at a time. You should also check their gender, cause that might help tell them apart. Also, it's very likely that they will become different sizes, so then you can tell which is which. But, unless you plan on training them to obey their name and stuff, you don't need to worry that much. one other thing you could do is check the sizes of their tails, because some rabbits have different sized tails and stuff. Cause one of mine has a real short almost hamsterlike tail, but the other has a longer tail. Hope this helps, and good luck with the rabbits. Rabbits Rule!

is one slightly smaller? the more time you spend with them, the more you will get to know them, and just like twin humans, you'll know the difference. check the rabbits head to tail again. there may be some small mark that you missed. maybe one has longer ears or bigger feet. there must be some slight difference. i'm going to give you a website that every rabbit owner should look at. everything you need to know about rabbits is there. www.rabbit.org don't forget to get them spayed. this help to prevent certain cancers. i learned the hard way. good luck!!!

Draw an A and B or whatever initial you want in their ears with a sharpie pen. It will wear off so you need to remark them regularly. That's what they do with rabbits at the shelter I volunteer at.

you could trim some of the fur off one of their back, but you would have to repeat this every couple of weeks when it grows back.
your vet may be able to tattoo marks in their ears (they can tattoo horses), why not phone up and ask

PS if they are both boys and you would like to keep them together, you may wish to get them both neutred to stop them fighting, which they almost certainly will (get them done soon, as once they start to fight it might well be too late)

More important do you know what sex they are. If you don't in a few weeks you could end up with a lot more than you bargained for and they would be in breeding and you won't think they are cute then
