As the one said, you need something special in your system to play Burned or Copied CD's on PS2's.

If the dics are scartached or dirty or the system is dirty itself.
you get "Disc Read Error" not "Insert a PS2 format disc"

have you ever cleaned out your PS2 before, it'll void it, but it does help on making it work properly, I do mine like every 2 months. It's just a couple tiny screws you're dealing with, and using a can of Dust Remover, Q-Tips and Rubbing Alcohol

First look for scratches on the disc's surface. Then try cleaning the disc lightly with a damp tissue. If that doesn't work go to a video game store that offers a disc cleaning service.

it fairly is ussually led to via a disc being previous and scratchy yet considering the fact which you assert its form new, maximum straightforward errors i see is a disc format errors. basically fix is to alter the activity.

Clean the disc it might not be reading it.

that sounds pretty weird to me. try contacting sony for help or taking it to a specialist and they may be able to help.

is it the original cd? if its copied it wont work
