because people are idiots, basically. hate to be rude about it, but people make generalizations about sports like football (soccer). i mean, the rest of the world loves it. people that think its boring are just ignorant, thats all. they dont call it the beautiful game for nothing.

I agree with just_hanging_out_in_b&w's. It's in the eye of the beholder.
Some people like high-scoring sports better. Maybe they don't understand the rules, don't know the best teams and players, arent' watching really great matches, so they're bored.
If a person is watching futbol for the first time, it's good to watch a great match between two great teams. It's important to have someone watching with you who can explain the rules of the game. Maybe that person can start following a team. Over time, that person can develop an interest in the sport and become a fan. That's how I became a Man U fan since 2002.

Good grief, if I must say so. There are at least a million things in life that are simply a matter of taste. I don't care for soccer, although I will say it is better than American football. At least you have some idea of how long the game will last.
I enjoy watching tennis. I also can watch golf, not so much for the game as for the scenery. I find the game of pool fascinating and wouldn't miss a biathlon if I knew it was happening.
It is simply a matter of taste. BTW, I have officiated at soccer games. I did so for my children when they were young. I am not in any way ignorant of the game.
When all is said and done, those who apply their taste to a situation and assume anyone not in league with them is some sort of moron are the boring ones among us.

Soccer is te most beloved sport worldwide. Its not that popular in the US because they dont score very much. Americans are used to watching basketball and football where they score alot more. I believe baseball is the most boring sport, followed by soccer. But I do love to see them score in soccer. Its really cool sometimes. But it doesnt happen a whole lot.

Many sports are great. I love soccer. I play it, and used to coach high school.
But sports are seen in the eye of the beholder. I personally think baseball is the most boring sport.
But my friend who played baseball in college loves it (obviously).
Those who understand soccer because they learned how to play it know it isn't boring. It's a fantastic chess match.
The only sport I enjoy doing more than soccer is skiing.

Americans have a very short attention span. Unlike most sports we watch on television (ie football), there's no break in the action. Soccer is a nonstop sport, and we often have a hard time staying focused for so long.
