Write to many teams and explain your situation and one will ask you to the rookie mini-camp.
You are a long shot, but they'll look at you.
Don't expect to be drafted though. :)
League minimum. Undrafted Free Agent.
No, college play is not required. Who is the TE that played College basketball but no football?

First off, it's a good idea to focus on one sport so you can really improve on it. As for which sport to choose, I would go with the NBA because of the longevity. In football, your body takes so much more abuse that people tend to retire in their late 20s, early 30s rather than in the NBA where you can play much longer if you can stay relevant. The only good news about the NFL is that more players are typically chosen. As to how to get into it, since the NBA or NFL doesn't allow for high school players, you need to focus on getting into a big time school where you'll get noticed. For football, look at schools like Texas, USC, Florida. For basketball, look at Duke, UCLA, North Carolina. The bigger the school, the bigger the stage and therefore a better chance of getting drafted. Practice and play hard and scouts will start noticing you. You might want to even think about transferring to a bigger high school. And don't worry about letting time pass you by. If you're still in high school, your body isn't mature enough to handle the stress of pro play. Take your time, work hard so you don't end up like Shaun Livingston.

You have an extremely slim chance. You really need to get at one year of college play in if you have any left. Otherwise, there are always farm teams and arena leagues that are interested in players that have at least gone to college and made the college team. My suggestion is to try and join local teams and then from there see if the arena league wants you and wait and see if the NFL likes what they see.

Its not impossible but it almost is. The thing is my friend, it is very hard to even get a try-out for an NFL team, because they dont just hold open-tryouts u have to be invited. How teams invite is by college highlights of u or by being watched by a scout at a game of some sort, so if u ever wanted a chance you would have to at least play college ball or try out for a semi-pro team and at least get some film of yourself. than you could send the film to teams and they would MAYBE give u a tryout. goodluck

No sorry. It's almost impossible. You could try and walk on your college team. That would increase your chances but it is hard to start this late.
William the player you are thinking of is Antonio Gates who was a huge football prospect coming out of high school but liked basketball more. He finally realized he couldnt go to the NBA and agreed to let NFL scouts look at him.

NFL teams do have open tryouts...Contact the teams and they will provide you with the info on when/where...etc...You would probably have to do time in a developmental league situation, such as NFL Europe, or the CFL...

Well it depends on what college you go to. if you go to a big school like USC or Florida, the NFL will look at you a lot more than they would if you went to mid-Tennessee state or some 1-AA school.
