I just got a new PC with Intel P4 Duo and Intel LG 775 Board. I got a nVidia 7600GT card with dual monitor DVI outs. Got I GB Ram and 2 200GB hard drives. The computer is great but when I unplugged it from my 17" monitor and plugged it to my 32" protron LCD, it takes 5 minutes for the windows to boot up to desktop. It starts and then shows the welcome screen, after that it will go to the desktop forest picture and nothing shows, but after 5 minutes it all shows up.

Why so long of a time? Can someone tell me why? Please help and thanks in advance.

Try un-installing the drivers of your old 17" monitor, and installing the new 32" Protron LCD. Next you must go into the nVidia 7600GT settings customize the settings per make/model of your 32" protron LCD. All this if done correctly, this should speed your start up, a lot faster.

Did it happen to come with a Norton anti-virus or suite on it? I've read several places (and confirmed it with friends who installed it) that Norton 2005 (or later) is notorious for slowing down a PC. My friends deleted theirs and told me it made a HUGE difference.

Hope that solves your problem. Sure sounds like you've got plenty of ram installed so I doubt it's that.

Good luck.

I recommend you to format the hard disk (restore) with the CD you computer come with. when you make a restore, after that you will be all set. you have enough memory it will be ok with a restore.
