2/3(9n - 6) = 4(n + 1)

3(2/3)(9n - 6) = 3[4(n + 1)]

2(9n - 6 = 12{n + 1]

18n - 12 = 12n + 12

18n - 12 - 12n = 12n + 12 - 12n

6n - 12 = 12

6n - 12 + 12 = 12 + 12

6n = 24

6n/6 = 24/6

n = 24/6

n = 4

2/3(9n-6)=4(n+1)

2/3 * 9 = 6, and 2/3 of 6 is 4, so...

6n - 4 = 4n + 4 (use the distributive property for both)...
6n - 4n - 4 = 4n - 4n + 4
2n - 4 = 4
2n - 4 + 4 = 4 + 4
2n = 8
2n/2 = 8/2
n = 4

To check:

2/3(9*4-6)=4(4+1)
2/3 (30) = 4(5)
20 = 20

2/3(9n-6)=4(n+1)
the distribute the numbers outsidet the parentesis
6n-4=4n+4
then add 4 to each side
6n=4n+8
then subtract 4n to each side
2n=8
then divide by 2
n=4
