It's very random, my mother and brother have it too. Some people call it a burp but it's not a belch, it's more a quick intake of sharp air and then my throat squeezes around it, causing a huge noise. Embaressing...

I thought I was the only one with this! I don't know why it happens. I understand how annoying and embarassing this is. I wish I knew, it has something to do with oxygen. That is all I know.

This actually happens to one of my friends. Hiccups happen when your diaphragm has a spasm to fill your lungs with more air. Well, consider this - at least you don't have hiccups for 30 minutes, nonstop. I'm sorry you get those hiccups, but be like my friend and make it a funny situation for you and your friends - you'll get a few laughs out of it.
