No, but it helps. Do you want to get a job offer from this company or are you just doing it for the experience? When I was interviewing for my internship, they were telling me about one of the (past) interns in the engineering section. He spent all day talking on the phone with his feet propped up on the desk... and didnt even try to look like he was getting something done. I thought it was pretty funny. If you do it like that, just be careful about using them as a reference.

they expect you to know you're stuff and learn FAST.

but they know you're only a student and will need some help.

best thing to do is ask questions if you don't know something. they'll respect you asking and now just doing what you thought it was and screwing stuff up!
