I just got a Nokia 6111 unlocked phone and when I insert a SIM card it displays the message "Please insert SIM card", almost liek it does not recognize it?? Anyone come across this?

if it says please insert sim it probably means either your sim card is bad or the sim reader in the phone is bad. if it was locked it would read "phone restricted"

Phones react differently to new SIMS. Sometimes they are locked, but they don't specifically tell you that, they just give you a 'bad SIM' error, but other times (many other times) it's that the SIM isn't right or isn't getting a good connection. Take alook at the connectors on the SIM and make sure it is clean. Make sure you reattached the battery properly and close the phone secure. Sometimes it is just a matter of the phone not touching the SIM properly.
