i plan on buying a new pc, and am wondering if pc's bought with vista already installed have the same problems as those who just upgraded.

Most people are having trouble upgrading / setting new drivers...if it comes pre-installed it will have everything working with what you ordered...but if you want to install something you may have some trouble.

I think you should be fine with a new pc...or if you are worried about it you can buy a pc with xp pro (only certain models) and a free upgrade to vista that you can get when they make it easier/more compatible with everything..(prolly a couple of months).

I have a 2 year old HP desktop that had windows XP Home and 4 days after it came out I installed it and I like it a lot. The only complant is it took up a LOT Of HARD DRIVE space as well it starts off real slow. I also have a HP Laptop with Vista and it has a slow start to. and i just got it a week ago.
But Overall Instilation went smooth when I upgraded it. Took about an hour or so to get it up and running

I have two computers one I upgraded to vista and one that came with vista so i will be able to help you perfectly. I have a gateway laptop that i upgraded to vista and it doesn't have the perfect graphics card and only has 448 MB ROM so it runs it ok but it cant handle Aero (Vistas visual system) so some of the cool features dont work but its not like i need a transparant toolbar.

I bought the newest HP Laptop that came with Vista and it is completely flawless, i love it so much. there are no problems because its got a 140 GB HD 2GB ROM Dual Core Processor so its awesome. I love using Vista but i am buying a Mac soon because I want to put Windows behind me and open up to the new revolutionary UI of Macintosh. So to answer your question, no when Vista comes preinstalled it doesn't have issues.

A PC with Vista pre-installed shouldn't have native driver issues, video, sound and networking should be fine.

But, you may not be able to find drives for printers, scanners and webcams for a while.

Check the manufacturer's sites for Vista drivers.

If not available, I recommend that you wait to upgrade to Vista for about 6 months for the new drivers to become available.

Vista is very good!!! Most new pc have vista already installed like dell and hp and lots of others. Vista still has minor bugs but is a lot better than xp. Have a good day and good luck!!!

If you are thinking of getting a new computer i would consider at still getting XP. Because they havent worked out all the bugs in Vista. Anyways vista isn't that great anyways. I would still stick with XP it is cheaper than vista and XP is still better.

well in my experience its good if you buy a PC that has vista already installed because it faster and better but if you upgrade an existing PC its likely your going to get a few problems

it defend on the how you use it.
all new pc that is window vista capable or pre-installed should have no problem.
the problem will start when you start installing new program or hardware that is not compatible with vista and how you use it especially when your on the internet browsing unsecured site and downloading intentionally/accidentally malicious program.
