I also like marigolds, although I do have problems with snails eating them. Also try nasturtiums, sunflowers, alyssum, bachelor buttons, four o' clocks and coneflowers.

What type of plant are you looking for? Grass is a plant. Try African Iris, Lorpettalums, or Mexican Heather. I live in North Florida where you get cooler winters and nice mild Springtimes. They hold up well in frosts. Good luck.

Zennias. They grow easily and are very rewarding. Plant seeds in full sun. There are very many to choose from. They grow in all zones.

marigolds always grow for me, anywhere, sometimes just throwing them on top of the soil, week or 2 weeks later they get pretty big
