I am buying a laptop w/in the next few days and want to know which is best intel core duo or amd turion 64X2?

I know that i want a dual processor because it is the cutting edge of technology but i want to hear what people have to say about them. either way i will have vista.

considering the dual processor because i crash every pc i use running multiple programs because they dont have the powere of a dual processor. the MIS guy at my office receommended knowing how often i crash excel on my desktop at the office. not just because it's the latest.

AMD, for no other reason than I like getting thumbs down.

Plus AMD are better.

P.S. Don't get Vista.

P.P.S There is no point spending the extra cash to get a dual processor unless your actually going to use it. Remember the cutting edge is what hurts people.

It really depends on what your wanting to use the laptop for. Usually with a laptop your going to be doing things that generally have to deal with office software or multimedia viewing. This generally is good to have a Intel Core Duo for (in my own personal experience). But if your wanting to go cheap then the Turion is your best bet. If your going to be doing alot of gaming then cheap is going to make you suffer since usually the cheaper Turion laptops are going to have equally cheap video extensions built into it. But if you have a large budget and want a honkin laptop then Falcon Northwest is your only choice.

I have the AMD Turion 64X2 on my Dell laptop and it runs well and fast.
