You're fine. I'm 16 wks and my husband and I are painting our house. My doctor said that as long as the room is well ventilated (fans, open windows) and the fumes don't overwhelm you, it's fine. Latex paints are the best because they're water-based, just watch out for spray paints and other paints that have a very overpowering smell. Congrats on the pregnancy!

With a lot of things in the pregnancy, you'll find that in moderation, a lot of things are safe. However, a lot of those same things that are 'safe in moderation' are not necessarily recommended unless really needed.
Doctors really hesitate to say "don't do this, don't do that" for many things during your pregnancy for reasons I could never truly figure out (PC?). But when you turn it around and ask "would it better if I didn't do this" they would be "oh, yes, it would be better, but that's not saying you can't do it." Yea, well, right.
I think your doctor will tell you it is ok, just to make sure it is ventilated and you don't go on the ladder or stress yourself out too much. I think they'd also say it would be a lot better if the baby's dad did it instead of you.

Most latex paint is safe so far as the fumes go. I wouldn't worry about the fumes. Just be careful if you have to go up a ladder. Use a ladder big enought so you don't have to stand on the top two steps. Make sure it is stable and not wonky. I think moms that do stuff when they are pregnant have happier babies. The ones that just lay around like blobs have babies that are more annoying.

I haven't asked my Dr yet, but my friend had a baby in Sept and her Dr said she shouldn't. My SIL however painted all thru her pg and up till a few days before she delivered.
I'd ask your own Dr. for his/her opinion.
Everything I've researched said to be safe you should let someone else. I think the main concern is the older homes, with older paint from the 70's which may contain lead.
Our home is from 1987 so I'm pretty sure it'd be safe.

I never did. I did not clean the oven either. I did not want to take any chances with chemicals.
